 Thursday's practice
« Thread Started on Feb 22, 2007, 6:25pm »

-- Hasek will start Friday against Edmonton Ozzie starts Saturday in Nashville.
-- Babcock said that Hasek will get back-to-back starts against Nashville March 13 (at Nash) and March 14 (at JLA).
Babcock on not using Hasek in back-to-back this weekend: "If they (Nashville) would have played on Friday night and we would have played, I would have used him. We play them back-to-back, they're playing and we're playing. That's a different thing."

Not really sure why they would start Hasek against the Oilers when they should use him against Nashville which will be a far tougher oponent

Probably because Osgood needs some quality starts as well. You can't protect/bury your safety valve and then expect him to step up if he's needed when the season is on the line in the playoffs.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

simple answer.. the wings suck in back to backs. He wants to make sure he at least gets 2 points. Go with your best against edmonton, and if the team collapses against nashville, on the road, in the second half of a back 2 back, even hasek probably cant save them.

Psyops...

If the Wings win, Nashville is thinking, "Geez, we can't beat them using their back-up goalie."
If the Preds win, Nashville is thinking, "Yeah, but it was against their back-up goalie."

Psyops...

I would normally rather rest players at this point in the season but we need to do anything and everything to avoid that 4th seed. Going into the playoffs as the 1st seed really hasn't helped in the past but if we can avoid San Jose it'll help, hopefully another team will wipe out San Jose before we face them.

I also think it has something to do with the fact that Babcock is hesitant to play Osgood at the Joe. He was last season as well.....

Oz has played one Home Game all season long. He played only 12 games at Home last season, 1 of which he came on in relief.

I think the "Ozzie!" chants bother Babs....

I gotta go with the simple answer on this one... If we amanage to beat Edmonton(which is by no means certain) we get our 2 points so we stay tied for first when we get our teeth kicked in Nashville because of exhaustion..... Riga mortis will set in 5 minutes in to the 3rd

If they want to practicve some psych ops, they need to get Guerin and with the cap room left (about 1.5 mil) sign one or two minor deals that bring one or two additional decent players, making the acquisition of Foreskin look insignificant......... although I admit that Foreskin/Nashville lately is not needing any help to look insignificant.... last nights shootout was a prime example

Psyops was a joke. (We really need a tongue-in-cheek emoticon available here).

That said, if the Wings weren't battling it out with Nashville for the right not to face San Jose or Anaheim in the first round, I'd be OK with Hasek not playing in any of the remaining games against the Preds. Too-too and Hartnell are just the type to run Hasek in an attempt to injure.
