From what I understand, Calder has been heating up as of late

Well, I posted it and the way I read it on another site, they were calling it a 3-way deal. In a sense, it was. Hawks sent Kukkonen to Philly for Calder then, flipped Calder to the Wings for Williams.

Quote:Well KENNY has managed to spend 300K of his 2 million allowance, but did he upgrade the team?
Calder scores less than Williams does, and his +/- of -32 doesn;t suggest he will do well in the Selke voting either? he is a LW instead of a C , but is this an upgrade? |
|
I wouldn't read too much into the Philly stats.. everyone is doing pretty poorly up there right now. I think, yes, he's an upgrade over Willy.
I hope he doesn't ask to play the point on the power play. Ha..

Wow heating up? 21 points and a minus 31 for the year, and no points in his last 3 games. Granted he is in Philly, but what are we adding here but a new face?

Sorry if it sounded like I was attacking you at all. I was just kind of curious why other sites listed like that. A three way trade used to be something simular, except Chicago would never have aquired Calder, everyone would move one point on the triangle (for lack of better explanation)

Definitely a upgrade. Calder is not afraid to get his nose dirty and is more than willing to crash the net.

Is Calder at least fast? His career stats have him as "minus" almost every year.
With Williams off the books and roster next year, we could plug a tougher guy in that spot. But, we could also have just done that now.

The way the 2nd line has been going, I'll be happy if he can just hold his own
Willy has been asleep all year, so if we got a bail of hay back, I guess we would not be any worse for wear

Well, you did not point out that he had a 3 point game a couple weeks ago. I was just pointing out what was said recently, (it may have bee nduring the Wings game against him) I did not look into it after the post

right, like kukonen and a third to philly, calder to detroit, williams to chicago. except, oh well...it's basically the same thing.
