Worried about defense? Great. Sign Markov. Forget about Schneider. Let Kronwall have Schneider's ice time. Go after a guy like Hannan or a cheaper option to get tighter on d. Deal Lebda. Cheli can play with Quincey. Lilja can fill in at times as the 7th man. Meech is in the A along with Kindl for depth. Lidstrom Kronwall Hannan Markov Quincey Chelios Now I"m worried about offense.

Lidstrom Kronwall Hannan Markov Quincey Chelios Now I"m worried about offense. You know, I was gonna flat out agree, but Kronwall, Markov, Hannan, Quincey & Chelios had 74 NHL points between them. With more opportunity they'd get more. Still, we need a clear #2 from an offensive standpoint and unless Kronwall all of the sudden starts meeting expectations, there isn't one in that list - especially not on a puck possession team that relies on offense from the point.

As long as Lidstrom's around, that PP is going to work. He is the guy who makes it all tick. Kronwall will do fine with Nick. And the tighter the d, the better it is in the long run.

Kronwall, Markov, Hannan, Quincey & Chelios had 74 NHL points between them. Hmmm.... you say that like it's a good thing. Schneider had 52 all by himself. Still, we need a clear #2 from an offensive standpoint and unless Kronwall all of the sudden starts meeting expectations, there isn't one in that list - especially not on a puck possession team that relies on offense from the point. That's the problem as I see it. The Wings are planning on Cromwell being the #2 offensive d-man, right? If they weren't, why would they give him the big contract? Is this the year he'll stay healthy and perform up to his potential? I'm not willing to bet on it. I'd feel safer with a proven #2 guy. Somebody who can play on both sides of the puck, be it Schneider, Hamrlik or Stuart.

I don;t think the WINGS will have any trouble putting Quincey in GR for another year and using him as call-up. Quincey is not so much better than Meech that if it allows up to keep both of them, putting Meech up here and sending Quincey down. The WINGS will make decisions like that to protect their assets. Now the WINGS may send Meech down if they think he will clear waivers, and he might, unless NJ and Buffalo are screwed becasue of the cap they need any low price help they can get, and they might. There is no end to Lamarillo's mismanagement. As far as Lilja goes, I would keep him. He is big, and if you get injuries in the playoffs, you could do alot worse than him. For 1 million, we would be stupid to trade him for some draft choice. As far as a defenseman or forward, I think Holland will go with gives him the best VALUE. I would really like to see Markov back. I gotta be honest, I don;t think I would pay 5.5 million for Schnieder because he is not defensively strong. Offensively he is a killer, but on D, I am not so sure. I am not the least bit worried about the blue line on the power play because Chelios and Sammy can both man the point. yeah, chelios is money on the power play...i love seeing blocked shots go for breakaways no way meech will crack this lineup...the only way is if lebda gets shipped out...by protecting your assets you also got to look at what you have on the ice. three d-men under 6' isn't exactly the type of unit you can expect to offer much protection.
