Calgary hasn't been scaring anybody recently but the Wings have trouble with the Alberta teams. However, as I gear up for the playff run, I will disagree on the 1st round and Hank. The Wings will win in the 1st round and they will do it w/o Hank. WTF? A positive playoff prediction from you? I know who got laid last night.

Let's get 1 point in the last 2 games and let Anaheim overtake us for top spot in the West!

You know, Z in the line up will make us almost unstoppable on paper, but I also feel that the reason Datsyuk is playing so well is because he had to fill Z's place. And if Z comes back, Dats may step back again and that would cancel it out.

i agree with keeping hank on the shelf for as long as possible, especially against a possible first round opponent of calgary. imagine coming back from a back injury to those blood thirsty goons, it will be a back-cross checking bonanza on hank! let him set until we have start to show signs of trouble. hopefully we can get through the calgoons with a healthy bertuzzi, calder, lang and dats! not to mention franzen is a pretty hardy player when provoked.

i believe the month before Z went out, he was averaging nearly 2.5 points per game., in that time datsyuk was putting about the same numbers he is now (1.5ish points per game). And homer scored 20ish goals and 20ish games in that span. Now, before the "we love datsyuk, stop bashing him" crowd arrives, the fact that Datsyuk has been able to thrive without Z in the lineup is great. Im not knocking him at all, but the 2 of them together, not only vastly improve each others games, but they make homer look like a legit top line winger. With Z in the lineup, that line alone was potting 2-3 goals per game. This isnt a Z is better than datsyuk post, so please dont go there. In fact, this is me saying, that Z coming back will only help datsyuk continue to put up great numbers, and that individually, they are both great players, together, they are truly elite.

ehehe.. you know.. i see cbj trying to be physical with bert.. apparently i heard he has a bad back. Didnt work out so well for them. Z might be the same. He had a bad back in his last few games, and was still scoring up a storm. They are probably just resting it as long as they possibly can

So attica, in short you're saying that Z is better than Datsyuk who sucks without him? I gotcha.
Please note sarcasm

The Wings can survive without Hank. Would it be better if he can play? Of course! But Detroit can certainly beat the Flames without him. That's why we traded for Bertuzzi and Calder, so we don't rely on just one or two guys / one line for all the offense. Personally, I'd rather take our chances without Hank, at least for a couple of games, because we will need him healthy should we make it to round 2 and beyond. But if we get down early, then yeah - let him dress if he's close to healthy.
Regarding the match up with Calgary, here are how the 4 games against them break down: 1. In Detroit, Wins won 3-2 in a very close game 2. In Calgary, Flames won 1-4 in a lopsided game 3. In Detroit, Wings won 7-4. This game was over in the first period, total domination by Detroit. 4. In Calgary, Flames won 1-2 in a game the Wings couldn't stay out of the penalty box.
Based on that, I don't see Calgary as some hugely intimidating foe. They were terrible on the road all season and got completely blown out of JLA once. Should we play them, with home ice advantage, I like our chances.
