Well, that’s a good point – the free publicity, I mean. But it wasn’t a totally profitless product. The article says it cost him $1500 dollars to shut down his pumps for 24 hours.
If he really wanted to make a symbolic gesture that would’ve actually addressed the issue, he would’ve kept his pumps open and purchased $1500 worth of bus passes to hand out to his customers that day.

Someguy, did you seriously say earlier that China has a history putting too much demand on scarce resources? Take a look around your country you @#%^^& moron. As an aside the chineese have existed and thrived for over 3000 years. When people look back on empires/civilizations they will be astounded by the short sightedness of your 300 year empire. Good luck.

someguy-- why have you been holding out on me? You have a 300 year empire and didn't even let me in on it? Can I be in charge of either the Food and Drug Administration or the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms? If I can't be in charge can I be their chief sampler? I just wish there was a way Americans could find a way to make more money for Exxon Mobil ... Hmm. I got it. How about we destabilize our relationship with oil producing lands all over the world.
Take a look at how Enron cooked California ... all with the blessing of their buddies in the white house.

I'd like you to head-up my Bureau of Mines. Maybe you could head over to China for ideas on how to artificially create a housing shortage, thereby benefiting my cronies in the construction business. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18970427/

Good luck. Be careful there. With Canada's immigration policies and desire for population growth they're trying desperately to follow the same path. Canada's no more friendly on the environment than the US from what I've seen either.

Does it really benefit oil companies to expand refineries? They are making record profits each quarter. Gas is a product that is controlled by political parties and is inelastic. If a democrat goes into the white house, the price will mysteriously drop to $2 just like it did during the elections in November. Let me guess that you've never worked in the energy industry. No, I'm an engineer. My job is to design roads/bridges. Remember the fake energy crisis in California? Gotta love all the big oil apologists.
