In his second start since coming off the DL, Kenny Rogers once again pitched a excellent game. Rogers went 6 innings, gave up 4 hits, 1 earned run, struck out 4 and walked only one, I think. By giving up that run in the 6th inning, Rogers scoreless inning streak ended at 34, going back to last years playoffs and improved him to 2-0 this season. And the Tigers backed by Gary Sheffields 18th HR finally beat the Rangers 5-2, this afternoon. And Todd Jones made up for his sucky 9th inning two nights ago, to get the Rangers 1-2-3 in the 9th to preserve the win for Rogers.

Maybe it's asking a lot, but this is the type of outing we need from our starters every single time. Yeah, Robertson did well for five innings the other day, but we need that full extra inning from him to transition to our weakened pen. It's good to see Durbin being brought in a lot and doing pretty well. The guy has earned a major league job and it's good to see him keeping it. Also, has anyone noticed that Sean Casey has quietly became a pretty damn good bat for us? Not a lot of power but I'll take that .299 average and .365 obp. Do I wish he had more power? Yeah, but I can live with a guy who consistently gets on base and helps set the table for the guys below him. and, speaking of guys below him, I just picked this off of Monroe's ESPN profile: Jun. 28 : Monroe (sore patella tendon) would not have been in the lineup on Wednesday had the game not been rained out, writes the Detroit News. "They think it could be a nerve. It hurts a lot, but they took an X-ray after (Tuesday's game), and everything was fine." We know he's had a rough first half (even for him). Have to wonder if this is going to become something serious or if it'll heal up and he'll go on his normal second half tear.
