Let's test Burke and sign Penner to an offer sheet.

Re: The Damn about to break Yes, it is. It's going to be a very interesting summer, no doot. Was "the Damn" breaking on the Debbils a misprint, or a pun? Either way, it's all good.

I think we ought to take a run at Vanek, especially if we're interested in Drury or Briere. We can sign him for anywhere between $3.51 million to $4.68 million for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I'd definitely go 4.68 on a 3 year + deal. I'm not sure if we have the picks to do it though. I believe they have to be for the next draft. I'm pretty sure Buffalo would match that offer, but that would give them 14 players signed at 33 million. That'd take them out of the running for either Drury or Briere.

It's pretty much an unwritten rule that most GMs don't throw offer sheets around to RFAs. Generally viewed as poor taste, ala Fedorov a few years ago.

When Clarke threw an offer sheet to Kesler he essentially said that isn't in effect any more with the salary cap and revenue sharing. Of course, that's only one GM and was Clarke who's a headcase, but it'll be interesting to see if more GMs adopt that point of view.

Let's test Burke and sign Penner to an offer sheet. Just curious, but you do know that the player has to agree to sign the sheet as well, right?

The cost in picks is still quite a bitter pill to swallow.
In a capped era, picks are more valuable the more restrictive the cap is.
I disagree with the premise of the article.
